PARC menswear founders Paul Rawson and Anthony Campbell announce their debut collection for Spring Summer 19.
With over 10 years of experience across various facets of the fashion and arts industries, Rawson and Campbell’s combined talents have culminated in the birth of PARC: a unique new brand of luxury menswear. PARC launches this season with a collection that fuses influences from opposite ends of the sartorial spectrum. From the sophisticated reservation of the archetypal gentleman to the raw charisma of the street-savvy hustler, the collection is steeped in dichotomous references that subtly and seamlessly blend together.
Subverting traditional soft tailoring techniques, metallic and multi-coloured Jacquard jackets have cutaway raglan sleeve seams and semi-sheer aertex back-panels. Matching tailored shorts have elasticated jockstrap split-back waistbands. The overall effect is a refreshing hybrid of conventional construction methods with sportswear design details and fabrications.
Multi-layered digital prints encapsulate myriad influences, from checks and chevrons that evoke the speedy graphics synonymous with vintage skate and surf culture through to degradè oversized circular prints that nod to fading, hazy Californian skies. Chunky shards of Swarovski crystal are fashioned into ‘is that or isn’t it’ phallus-shaped pendants.
The depth and richness of surface decoration throughout the collection is conjured from a sophisticated colour palette of decade-hopping misty pastels, warm seventies tones and punchy brights. PARC have worked with textile studio Rarethread to create unique jacquards based on vintage surfboards and have placed emphasis on conceiving and producing a wealth of new and individual fabrications.
Rawson and Campbell enlisted the talents of friends and collaborators on their launch collection including millinery designer Noel Stewart, textile design studio Rarethread, print designer James Millar and footwear by Nike.
The PARC aesthetic is fresh and optimistic: a visually bold, relaxed luxury.
The PARC menswear collection launched 18th July at Bistrotheque in London and will be shown as a static presentation.
